How we work

To find the right candidate we use an already broad network throughout the shipping industry combined with, database, searching, advertising and networking. All based on our long shipping experience.

Nordic Star work on a “no cure no pay” basis for all our clients. When we have agreed on a assignment, we  charge nothing before the actual candidate sign up with the client. We charge a percentage of the first years salary upon signing of the contract between the candidate and the client.

Technical Manager for GCC – Oslo

On behalf of our Client Gram Car Carriers (GCC) we are seeking a Technical Manager for its Oslo office to support fleet growth through newbuildings and secondhand vessels. The role includes technical and operational responsibility for a group of vessels, follow-up of ship managers, budget control, inspections, dry-dock planning, and fleet performance monitoring using digital tools.

 

The position involves global operations, travel, and close cooperation with commercial and crew management teams.

 

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of relevant experience, strong technical and digital skills, and works independently while contributing to a team. Experience as a deck officer, in crew management, or with PCTC/Ro-Ro vessels is an advantage, however not a must.

Shipyard Facility & Maintenance Manager

We are looking for a Shipyard Facility and Maintenance Manager for their head office in the Middle East.  

The Shipyard Facility & Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and managing all maintenance activities across shipyard including equipment, facilities, and infrastructure to ensure maximum reliability, availability, and operational efficiency in line with company strategy and standards.

The role oversees maintenance planning and scheduling, CMMS implementation, spare parts and inventory control, contractor management, and annual budget preparation. It ensures that all assets are safe, fit for purpose, and maintained to support production schedules and vessel operations.

Accountable for developing and executing a comprehensive maintenance strategy, establishing and monitoring KPIs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve mean time between failures. The position also ensures full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ).

The manager leads, coaches, and develops a high-performing, multicultural team, builds strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, and provides expert technical guidance to support operational excellence within the shipyard environment.

Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering, membership of a relevant professional body, and 10–12 years of experience in a similar role, including at least 5 years in senior maintenance leadership within shipyard or related industrial operations. Strong leadership, project management, analytical, budgeting, and decision-making capabilities are essential.
